Now that all 462 children have been removed from the polygamist colony and placed in foster care, the media is turning to all the people who are second guessing or condemning the Texas officials who removed the children from the compound. Some say that the men should have been removed while the women and children were left there. Others say that the state was not right to take the children away from their mothers.

This is not a religious argument! It is against the law to have sex with an under age child! It doesn’t matter whether that child is in a cult compound or an apartment in some major city. Child protective services job is to protect children from abusers whether in a cult compound or an apartment in some major city. So before people pick up their stones to throw at child protective services, they might want to consider—-if that 9,10 or 11 year old girl that is chosen to marry a 50 year old man is their daughter, granddaughter, niece or cousin—how would they want the officials to respond?
