Carolyn and I have worked together in preschools for the last 14 years, and we turn 50 four days apart. So after being invited to lots of children’s birthday parties and eating hundreds of cupcakes at school, we decided to invite all of our school to a 50th birthday celebration on the last day of school this year. We gave everyone invitations, had bounce houses, a slush machine, pizza and cupcakes for lunch, and of course, party favors! Some of the children said it was the “best birthday party” they’d ever been to—I thought it was great fun, but now I know why bounce houses are for younger folks—I was really tired and a little sore the next day! May be next year I’ll try to act more my age, but I doubt it!!
